This is the day! And we are ready!
We did have to do a little last minute luggage adjustment however.

Also, do you know what happens when you make almost everything you are taking fit into one packing cube?

For future reference, this is often the outcome! Wrinkles galore! Most fortunately, the creative use of the packing cube event was intercepted before leaving home.

Ahhhh, I feel so much better. And no more wrinkly clothes.

We also had another last minute addition to our journey. An Africca workout showed up! Everyday? Uh Oh! I have often thought that if I had a choice between someone cooking all our meals, cleaning our house or working out for me with me reaping the benefits; it would be working out for me 100% of the time! It is one of those things I am thankful for the ability to do; and know how beneficial it is, but I just don’t love it. Thank you Elise for the helpful plan. For real…… just a little bit of whining!

Before we left, Dave cooked a beautiful breakfast! Fresh eggs, bacon and homemade waffles. The perfect energy meal before leaving.

Of course with all the cooking, the vacuum had to come out for a quick clean up.

I discovered that when you haven’t traveled internationally in 10 years, you get out of packing practice. We are only allowed two carry on’s each.

Double checking for anything left behind. It was a good thing too…….Eric found Dave’s cell phone!

One last look around…….

A quick stop at Lore Coffee, formerly Hidden River, for a great cup of coffee for the road!

Don’t you love the smell of fresh coffee? Especially when the cup has the sleeve. Such a better feel than double cups.

Eric dropped us off right in front of the Alaska terminal in Portland. It made it very convenient to get our luggage checked in and our boarding passes printed.

They recently renovated the Portland Airport. They added a lot of crafted wood creating a very open feel..

In our concern to not be pressed for time, we ended up being way too early. It gave us time to relax though. We met this nice lady flying to Hawaii to find a home for her parents. She and her husband live in Hawaii but she has been going back and forth between Hawaii and Montana for the last year to help her parents. She said that they had decided to move to Hawaii. What a change that is going to be! Northern Montana to Oahu …….

Lunch!!! It was actually. very good! And the flight attendants were excellent.

After an uneventful 2 hour flight, we landed at LAX. Excellent landing by the way!

Luggage collection from turnstile 63 and up to the second deck to wait for the courtesy van to the hotel. When we left Washington it was about 43 degrees. So much warmer here!

There was another couple on the courtesy van returning from Corinth, as in the Corinth in the Bible. Their huge black case was a double bicycle that breaks down into pieces for traveling. They highly recommended it as a must see location, and especially from a bicycle built for two!

Wonder who our neighbors are? It was a nice view of Century Blvd.

To finish off our first day of travel, we opted for take out delivery from this restaurant that offers organic, seed oil free options. It was delicious!
I also forgot to include that we made a stop at the gym in the hotel. It was nice to get some exercise after a day of sitting.

I am considering bringing back the outfit of the day…….This was one of the more subtle ensembles.

Not too many exciting happenings and we have another travel day tomorrow. The flight from LAX to Dubai is about 16 hours so I unsure of when the blog will get out……although I hear that Emirates has Starlink.
Also, please excuse any misspellings or grammatically creative usages. I need to get used to my new setup and software!
