Part IV

Dave had the wonderful opportunity to sing at Grace this morning. It has been 0ver 9 years!

It was a privilege and a delight.

It has been a while since he has had the opportunity to sing with an orchestra behind. Truly a blessing!

The GCC bulletin has changed over the years but still has some of the same style and information.

After church, we were still able to get into the room to change clothing. A nice front check-in person reactivated our card. A slight little snag, Dave forgot to throw his flips into the luggage. Instead he will start a new style! Dress shoes with no socks. I rather thought the shorts were a nice touch for the ensemble!

Looks OK, don’t you think?? As we are often prone, we had an adventure on the way into the elevator. The desk clerk, when she reactivated our room card, asked us to be sure to return it to her.
As we stepped into the elevator, I pushed the ‘L’ button for Lobby while Dave swiped the card across the top of the pad. In perfect synchronization, our hands bumped each other causing the room card to fly to the elevator door rail…….and down the elevator shaft. Oooops!
Back in the lobby, we waited our turn in line, to allegedly return the room card. They had specifically asked us to return it. When we got up to the check in/out, Dave said ” I have a story.” They both looked very interested, especially when he said, “And you won’t believe it, but it is totally true! ” He told the story with much drama, which they greatly enjoyed…..until the end. They looked surprised and then laughingly said, “We totally believe you and want you to know that you are the first one to master the card down the elevator shaft.” Whew…..moving on!

Now to grab a snack/lunch for the road. We used to shop at this Whole Foods all the time! Dave used to bring my assistant and myself delicious smoothies from here! Unfortunately, but true, you really need to read the labels even at Whole Foods. Sad times….

Do you remember Corner Bakery? I seem to recall they had really excellent soup!

The checker at Whole Foods recommended we try Philz Coffee. Turns out they only do pour overs. It was quite good!

Rather than eat in the car while on the road, we sat in the little garden table section between the two restaurants. It was a nice day, about 75, with a slight breeze.

And a view of the fountain.

Turkey, avocado, tomato, arugula and sourdough bread.

On a personal opinion note, it was not amazing. Next time I think we will just get a tomato, an avocado, some meat and cheese and call it a day. Oh, and maybe an apple too!

We missed the turn off to the 126 so got off at the Castaic exit to turn around.

Found it! It was an easy drive home with very little traffic. It was good to be in the ‘old stomping grounds’ again to see how things are.

We were glad to pull up to the John’s Bed and Breakfast, hang the suit in the closet and relax in the beautiful weather of Arroyo Grande- which is why you should visit!!
