Part II

As today had a more ‘non-targeted’ schedule; also known as no plans (what a treat that is!), we will just be wandering about, highlighting things that we run across or people we, mostly Dave, meet; and who you can also meet when you visit Arroyo Grande!

Another reason to stay at the John’s Bed and Breakfast! Delicious homemade waffles with fresh strawberries and honey. They are also great cold… for a snack!

While driving to breakfast Dave discovered this fancy parking assist feature. Of course, when we arrived at the parking lot, he had to engage it to ‘help’ us park.

We pull in….

It is crooked….we back out….we pull in…it is crooked….we back out and

park on our own, straight the first time. Bah…..technology

These bumper stickers seem very useful. I have never seen these before but I am fairly sure no one tailgates this person.

Anytime we (or you) are in the SLO area, you just have to return again and again to Sally Loo’s. You can get raw milk cappuccino’s and they do not use seed oils. in their cooking. What I did find out this trip, they do not do one shot cappuccino’s. Oh well. They are still very good. It is all about the foam! And the mandatory scone to go with it. of course This is the raspberry almond poppyseed scone, made with butter.

There are always fun and insightful things to observe when you patiently look around. This little guy really wanted to take a photo of the horse looking out of his stall. I have to admit I agree with him. I have always been drawn to that particular painting.

Some things are worth repeating…such as eggs, bacon and avocado! Dave had some sort of wrap that seems to be the favorite of all of the servers.

It is very much a Dave food. Lots of sauces.

The gentleman sitting at the table next to us, Bob, was a motorcycle rider. He had come in for breakfast, catch up on his phone and enjoy a cup of coffee. As he left, Dave told him “ride careful out there!’ Bob kind of smirked a little. Dave responded with “do I sound like your wife?” Bob responded with “Yes you do!” He did also agree that you should ride aware and safely. They chatted about this and that before he took off for his ride.

A litte motivational picture……

And more…..They have different kinds depending on the day and the fruit seasons.

This is Dave doing his Uncle Clayton impression.

Across the room was this sweet scene. Dad was saving the table; mom handed baby to dad while she went to order.

This dad was a great dad! We kind of met him when his daughter and son set their drinks on the ledge right by our table. They were fine there, but dad had them move them right away. It was quite the funny scene.

The daughter was most definitely the organized one; she had things to do and she needed to get them done now!

A follow up photo of Dad and baby waiting for mom to return with the food. Baby is definitely looking more comfortable!

This little guy was at a table with three adults talking amongst themselves. He was not ignored, but definitely wanted to join in by making faces and laughing. It looks like he is crying but he was actually trying to accentuate his laugh. He has quite the personality!

This is Cambria Joy. She and her husband and new little baby were sitting at the table next to us. They were very friendly. Cambria helps people with health issues and natural healing. She ended up in that career because no one could figure out what was wrong with her; so she went back to school and studied cellular health, among other things. She is very knowledgeable on natural ways of healing.

Her husband was hysterically funny! He had just had blood taken for a test and the cotton ball and tape was still on his arm. He did not want to take it off because ‘it might still be bleeding.’ Dave finally convinced him it was fine. He started off by removing it very slowly but then said “I should just be a man and rip it off!” Which he did. He also regaled us with stories of the phlebotomist and how he tried to make them happy with jokes while he was in their chair. He detailed that all but one enjoyed the interaction. His logic was if you are a phlebotomist you need more laughter in your life.

They came from Newport Beach and live in the Arroyo Grande Village. They lived in Oregon for two years but moved back to California because there was not enough sun in Oregon. Truth!

They were just a little too close and observant for me to venture a photo so I got the photo from her website.

Greeting the local law enforcement…..

offering to purchase their meal and trading stories…

Everything was delicious and thoroughly enjoyed!

Next stop is California Fresh SLO. We wanted to pick up some additional cream for coffee and a couple of coconut waters to replace Uncle David’s that we used up. We enjoyed meeting Massimo, a very friendly checker. His family is from Hungary.

The typical allegedly “healthy” deli and quick meal bar.

Perfectly parked with no camera assist.

To give good context to the area, we took a meandering route from SLO to Arroyo Grande; through neighborhoods, a few major streets and a short freeway drive.

Sometimes, parking is at a premium!

Most of the streets in SLO havev bike ways along the side.

Older neighborhoods have some beautiful craftsman homes but parking was not a consideration when the neighborhoods were built.

Time to get the days mail.

A classic example of the old California build, showing the influence of the Spanish Villa style.

Helpful mileage information….

Noontime traffic on the freeway.

The Village of Arroyo Grande is announced!

Entering main street is always so much fun! It is especially beautiful at night with the twinkle lights and shop window displays.

Back home to the John’s Bed and Breakfast location. Their neighbor across the street is redoing her backyard. She has constructed a trellace of sorts with old posts from the pier. They are rather high!

Mike is almost done! Maybe tomorrow? He is going to need a nice long nap!!

One of the guests at the Bed and Breakfast enjoying the patio with a good dose of healthy sun ;accompanied by lunch of tuna and tomato on sourdough bread; with with olive oil chips and fresh farmers market red grapes.

The welcoming gate to the front patio.

After a brief lunch and respite, just enough time to visit an Arroyo Grande classic.

Andrenei’s is always a fun visit for an americano or a cappuccino. They also have several choices for breakfast lunch plates, including egg and avocado toast. When we walked in, we were greeted with ‘Hi Dave!’ The barista Melissa remembered us from a year ago!

There are multiple comfortable places to sit, talk, relax or work.

You can also enjoy outdoors Arroyo Grande at a variety of tables, in the shade of the awning or the warmth of the sun. If you are fortunate, one of the Arroyo chickens will walk by greeting anyone who will listen with their clucking.

Strawberry Arbutes of course!

The fruit is edible. Be sure to choose the very red ones; the others are not ripe. The texture is a bit on the mushy side and for me would be an acquired taste!

A little last minute work at the John’s B & B office dining room.

Another appetizing and delectable dinner.

Each burger cooked to requested degree.

With fresh cut yam fries flavored with salt, pepper, italian spices and drizzles of olive oil. All summing up wonderful reasons why you should visit Arroyo Grande!
